My son and I had a wonderful stay!  You are a definite 10 and I plan to continue recommending you to our friends.  Everything from our check-in, (Larry was incredible), to our lodging, (your staff is so attentive and friendly) to our hunt was outstanding.  Chris Lemaire made my son's first hunt a phenomenal success!  Chris is an expert guide and an exceptional host.  It is obvious that Chris really cares about his staff and his customers.  We plan to be back during the Christmas holidays.

We absolutely would recommend Rough Creek Lodge & resort to our friends, family and business associates.  So the answer there is a 10.  I’m preparing a summary of our visit along with pictures to give to the co-workers who mentioned it to us (even though they have not visited themselves).  We are also recommending this as a retreat for our company.  You’re going to get two answers because my wife and I could not agree on just one.  I have to pick the friendly and competent staff from the initial greeting from Adam to the excellent wait service by Melissa to Sunday’s brunch hostess Jessica to the fantastic horseback ride by Dawn.  And I’m not known for remembering names.  My wife’s pick is “something for everyone.”  But the food cannot go without mention.  It was a tough call.

We plan to come back next year.

Thanks, Paul, for your interest in our input.  Our 7th trip this year was as happy and enjoyable as every past trip.  Adam is a wonderful guide---he keeps Jack and Mark in good birds and has a pleasant demeanor.  He takes hunting and the outdoors seriously, as do Jack and Mark, but also makes the outing lots of fun.  He knows his stuff.

 As far as the lodge staff, itself.....wow.  I have a list of persons I know came in direct contact with us....all very polite, kind, and helpful.  Those people are Tika, Angie, Melissa, Craig, Danielle, Adam, Felicia, Ashley, Julia, Susan, Stacy, Caryn, and Larry.  I know I have left out some others, and they are just as important.  All these people made our stay incredibly comfortable and pleasant.  Our room was always made up quickly and efficiently.  The meals were divine....and the wait staff knows about every nuance to each meal.  All service in the dining room was cordial and extremely efficient.  I cannot think of a way to improve their service.

What impresses me, mostly, is the genuine friendliness of your group.  I know you keep notes on customers, which is important.  However, I always felt that the

"welcome back" phrase was genuine, not a memory from past notes.  The hugs and smiles from familiar faces always gave us a feeling of arriving home.  That's unusual in these days, where clients are a house count.  Knowing someone really recognized us, and cared, is very important.

We also thought the idea of a special in-room treat was a nice touch.  We received a delicious tray of cheeses and nuts, a bottle of wine, and some cookies.  Now, we certainly don't go hungry at Rough Creek, but, on a late afternoon, after a good hunt, some shopping for chocolates in Hico, or a good nap, those treats were really appreciated.  Those treats, along with the view of the prairie from our window or deck, make Rough Creek a memorable experience.

 We have recommended Rough Creek to other hunting friends and whenever we mention Texas, they know where we're going.  It's a far drive, but easy.  We hope our friends will give the lodge a try sometime.

Would I suggest families go to Rough Creek----not really.  Your facilities are grand for families, but, selfishly, this trip is just for us adults.  We have plenty of time to enjoy our grandchildren and staying at Rough Creek is OUR little get-away.  I figure Disney World will come soon enough.  Right now, hunting, fine dining, a good nap and shopping keep this set of grandparents very happy....and relaxed. That's the whole point of the 14 hour drive, the good guns, and the credit card!!

 As far as trivial issues....I have two.  One night, the Texas breeze became heavy and, somewhere close to our room window, that wind was catching either some siding or the window casing and the noise at 4am sounded like someone was trimming close to the foundation of the building.  I did go onto the deck and could hear the noise.  I'd suggest maintenance check for some loose siding.

Our overall rating for this stay is, again, a 10.   We arrive at Rough Creek a little tired but full of anticipation and leave a bit slower, enjoy the ride down the road to the highway and realize we've had a few days of real sleep, days of outdoor fun, and a get-away from everyday life.  Leaving Texas reminds us why we like to be there.

 Thank you for the pleasant experience.  We would hope that, should you venture to Nebraska someday, your stay would be as restful.

Dear Paul,

On behalf of XXX Companies I would like to tell you that we had the best planning session we have ever had.  Part of that success is owed to RCL.  You guys did an absolute fabulous job at catering to our needs however impromptu those needs were.  We needed printing, extra coffee (shocker) and other things and your staff was awesome.  Stephanie introduced herself to me and was so gracious. 

We are coming back next year.  I will sing your praises (absolute 10) to all I can and you are welcome to use my comments any way you wish.  In fact, our group is going to extend our stay over the weekend next year and bring our spouses up for the weekend.  I just hope we catch another full moon. 

One specific thing that I loved is that I didn’t have to do a bunch of paperwork or walk through the house…they just swiped my card and sent me on my way.  Same as I left…no hassles.

The shooting and the four wheelers were a blast.  Again, no hassle’s…..awesome!
 
The only thing I want to do next year is get another couch or more comfortable chairs in the living area and hook up the plasma to the computer for power points….that would be better….no big deal.

Dear Mr Boccafolgli,

S and I want to thank you for the lovely evening we enjoyed on November 11 at your Lodge.  My sister and her husband were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, we were celebrating our 40th, and the entire staff made every effort to make sure our evening was made memorable.

We started when the hostess offered to take our picture and email it to us, then our server "Logan", and his assistant went aboveboard to see that our dinner was all it could be, and MORE!

Salad was complimentary, then towards the end of the evening, the chef came out and visited with us, all evening everyone made sure everything was perfection.  Even to the point, when I asked for foie gras (which was NOT on the menu), they made sure to accommodate my desires, even surprising me with the accompanying wine that goes with the dish.

THEN, to top it off, they made sure our dessert plates were decorated with "Happy Anniversary" on both my sister's and my own plates, and at the end, brought us a surprise gift of chocolates as a special treat.

I have listed all this, although I am sure you already are aware of  
it, just to make sure you realize how special this made us all feel.   
We have literally lived all over the world in our pasts, and feel your venue did your upmost to give us a special evening.

Please extend our thanks to all your staff, we had a wonderful evening.  We plan on returning, and since we live in Colleyville, we will make sure we spend the evening there, which will make our experience even more to our liking.

"I have already began to beg my husband for a yearly trip out there.  We had the best time together.  More fun than we have ever had!  

The thing that made it the best in my opinion was the combination of outdoor activities with class and sophistication.  Secondly - and really a tie with the first thing - is that the resort was not over crowded.  We had the feeling of seclusion.  We were the only people at the ten stand, rifle range and quail hunt ... or at least it felt like it. Adam, our guide was awesome.  Although he was our guide and leader, he also treated us like we were very important guests.  My husband and I hunt often, however, we never thought we would enjoy having someone to help us pick up shells, refill shells, pack water, help with the guns, clean the birds, coach us how to better shoot... etc.  Adam really made the money we spent with him worth it.

 I cannot think of anything that could be improved.  We even loved the delicious cookie that was waiting for us when we arrived."   K.K., Ft. Worth

"I feel that I am a fairly discriminating traveler primarily on both coasts.  That travel gives me some perspective on different properties, management styles, food, amenities, etc.  I believe this may be the first email or correspondence of this sort I have ever sent.
 
I brought my 14 year old son into Rough Creek this past weekend for a hunt.  From the minute we arrived, this experience was perfect.  Whether it be the bellman, reception, or hunting staff, or restaurant staff, it was wonderful.  Teka, in particular, had organized everything perfectly with advance thought that anticipated the needs of my son and of my wife and I without any request by me.  For instance we happened to arrive early (10 am) - Teka had notified housekeeping and reception to expect us and they had arranged for an early room for check-in (which I didn't expect or anticipate).  Teka was not just a hunting coordinator, she facilitated the entire stay encouraging all of us to do some things we were unfamiliar with.  Jeff also did a fantastic job with my son on a very HOT afternoon for hunting.  Most interesting, I had the bellman, Beretta room staff, spa staff, and even someone doing some exterior painting ask how my son's hunting experience was.  
 
The enthusiasm and detail at Rough Creek is obvious and pervasive.  Thank you for a wonderful experience.  It is indeed expensive and so very worth it.  You all have much to be proud of.  We will return often."  C.M., Dallas

1)10, Excellent staff and beautiful setting. We have recommended to many friends which have stayed with you.
2) The king bed we had was really uncomfortable. My wife and I both woke up with a back ache. We were in room 214.
 
The food and service are always great. I have been there many times over the past 7 years individually as well as with my employer Community Bank. I have never really had a bad experience. It is always nice to come back and see what additions you have made to the lodge area and other outdoor ammenities. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and they brought her a special dessert platter with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate rim with chocolate. What a nice touch. I was particularly impressed by the staff working the breakfast area yesterday morning. There was no French toast on the buffet and when I inquired, the lady said it was not offered on the buffet that morning but there were pancakes and waffles but if I was willing to wait she would have the chef make some for me. In just a few minutes, a huge platter of French toast arrived with warm caramelized bananas on top. It was wonderful and made quite an impression on my wife and me. Outside of the bed issue we once again enjoyed our stay immensely. Thank you for the opportunity to share our experience with you."  J.H., Joshua, TX

GREAT  TRIP….
           
The staff was just awesome, especially Mike at the Beretta room.

The only inconvenient I found it was not possible to do a quick meal, for example a quick sandwich for lunch etc.  We usually required more than one hour per meal, dinner of course is great but light lunch we like faster.

Not to leaver her out, my apologies to Dawn, Equestrian Trail Boss……….She was one of the highlights of our weekend. She was very professional and knowledgeable of her specific duties as the equestrian director. We enjoyed not only the trail, horses and atmosphere, but Dawn was very helpful and a joy to ride with.

Thanks Paul and for the record, Debra and I travel quite extensively to destination resorts through out the Caribbean and Mexico……..without a doubt Rough Creek is in the top three destinations. My specific complements to Brett, Craig, Jessica, Sarah and the gracious brunette (sorry did not get her name) who worked Sat and Sun at the hostess desk in the restaurant. These valued assets and their ability to remember names and their constant ability to assist us and our needs reflects an exemplary ideology of the resort and your training protocol…………It had been 5 years since we had paid a visit to Rough Creek and we anticipate a more frequent visit schedule, with our kids next time. I understand from their comments it was definitely a 10.  They would
use the Lodge again for their conference and incorporate some of your
team building exercises.

Their dinners at night and the “working” lunches also got high marks!

The meeting room more than met their expectations!
